Derrick joined the ISU-UP in 2023 as a Technical Assistant for Post-harvest and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs. His duties include grain mill operation, preventive maintenance and repair of post-harvest machines, and repair and maintenance of boreholes. He also assists in the promotion of appropriate hygiene and sanitation practices in rural communities. Derrick's previous experience includes serving as a foreman at a maize mill and as a machine fitter. He holds a National Craft Certificate in Metal Machining and Fitting from Jinja Vocational Training Institute and a Certificate in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Plate welding) from Power Technical Institute, Dubai - United Arab Emirates.
