Josanne (Josie) Six is the Director of Budget and Finance in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station and the Associate Director for Budget and Finance in the Center for Sustainable and Rural Livelihoods (CSRL). She has been employed at ISU since 1980 and has been involved with CSRL for over 15 years. Josie has traveled to Uganda numerous times beginning with her first trips to strengthen the financial reporting linkages between ISU and VEDCO. When Iowa State University – Uganda Program (ISU-UP) became registered as an NGO in Uganda, she provided leadership for staff training and development, establishment of financial and accounting systems, and development of program policies and procedures. She also established relationships with banking officials in Uganda and the Uganda Revenue Authority as well as assisting with the selection of insurance carriers and an accounting firm. In addition to her college responsibilities, Josie continues to use her broad range of experience to provide in-country staff training and advise on accounting procedures, internal control, contract review, and taxation issues for ISU-UP. She is also responsible for the compilation and preparation of CSRL’s financial statements. Josie is a graduate of ISU and received her B.S. in Accounting in 1990.
